Any Old Price at All (McLeod)

Will you buy my story?
I will tell you it all
All the grind, all the glory,
The pride before the fall

You can turn me away now
And I’ll try to understand
Like a the frown before the breakdown
I’ll take any old price at

All I remembered was the love you collected
And skipped away across the sand and
When I surrendered I smiled and pretended
I believed your love and put the phone down
Why do I wonder at the spell I was under?
Looking for the power you could wield
And yes my heart would always yield
To any old price at all.

Now ashamed to tell you
The love that I felt and lost
Seven years to forget you
And still I must count the cost

You can turn me away now
Constructing old myths again
But like a suit you grow out of
I’ll take any old price at

All I believed in was some dream of perfection
Holding hands the final blow of
TV dictation as a force of negation
Tears at midnight fell onto the
Page after page of my confounded rage
Making the most of what I did not
Know that you loved, just one sign that you’d loved me

But I’ll take any old price at all.
